A Landmark Venue with a Very Practical Requirement

The Bird’s Nest is recognised for its architecture, but every major event also depends on the less visible infrastructure that keeps thousands of visitors moving comfortably through the venue. Public washrooms are part of that infrastructure. They must cope with sharp peaks before events, during intervals and immediately after the final whistle, while remaining easy for operating teams to clean and maintain.

MICAWA supported the project with a coordinated sanitary ware package for public and supporting washroom areas. The scope brought toilets, urinals, basins, faucets and sensor-operated fixtures into one product programme rather than treating each item as an unrelated purchase.

The Challenge: Peak Traffic Changes Everything

A stadium washroom is not used like an office bathroom. Demand arrives in waves, queues form quickly and every fixture must be simple to understand. Repeated washroom banks also make consistency critical: a small difference in mounting height, flushing arrangement or faucet configuration can become a repeated installation issue across the venue.

The project therefore required more than durable products. It needed a clear system for matching fixtures to user flow, keeping interfaces consistent and carrying the approved selection into production without unwanted variation.

Building the Washroom Package

MICAWA began with the function of each area. Toilets and urinals formed the core of the high-capacity public washrooms, while basins, faucets and sensor-operated components completed the handwashing and flushing arrangements.

The team reviewed the products as connected groups. Basin dimensions were considered together with faucet reach and water delivery. Urinals were coordinated with their flushing components. Toilets were aligned with the intended installation and maintenance conditions. This package approach helped reduce the risk of discovering incompatible details only after products reached the site.

Once the combinations were confirmed, the focus shifted to production consistency. Repeated public areas needed the same approved appearance and configuration across multiple batches. MICAWA coordinated manufacturing, quality checks and supply follow-up around that requirement.

From Factory Supply to Project Delivery

The project service continued beyond product selection. MICAWA followed the approved product direction through production planning and delivery, while providing product information and technical response for project implementation.

This connected workflow was especially important for a landmark venue. The project team did not only need sanitary ware to arrive; it needed the correct combinations to remain recognisable and consistent from sample approval to installation.

The Result: A Public-Venue Reference Built on Coordination

The Beijing National Stadium became one of MICAWA’s most important public-project references. The value of the case is not limited to the Bird’s Nest name. It demonstrates how a bathroom manufacturer can support a high-traffic venue by coordinating product categories, installation interfaces, production batches and delivery as one programme.

For stadiums and large event buildings, that coordination is what turns a fixture schedule into an operational washroom system.
