School Washrooms Have Their Own Rhythm
During lessons, a school washroom may be quiet. When the bell rings, demand rises immediately.
This short, intense use pattern shaped the bathroom product planning for Guangdong Guangya High School’s Huadu campus. MICAWA needed to support student washrooms that were intuitive to use, efficient to clean and practical for the school to maintain.

The Challenge: Capacity, Durability and Simplicity
School facilities do not benefit from unnecessary product complexity. Students should understand the fixtures without instruction. Cleaning teams need clear access. Maintenance staff need a product range they can service efficiently.
The campus also contained staff and shared areas with different requirements from student washrooms. The product strategy needed to distinguish those applications without filling the school with unrelated models.
Building around Student Use
MICAWA coordinated squat toilets, toilets, urinals, basins, faucets, cisterns and sensor-operated fixtures according to the intended area.
In high-use student zones, the emphasis was on practical arrangements and repeated product logic. Basins and faucets were planned as washing stations rather than decorative vanity pieces. Sanitary fixtures and flushing components were coordinated so the school could manage them as complete functional groups.
Staff and visitor areas could use appropriate alternatives from the same broader product family.
Making Cleaning and Maintenance Easier
Product selection considered what happens between periods as well as during them.
A controlled range makes it easier for cleaning teams to follow consistent routines and for maintenance teams to diagnose common components. MICAWA carried the approved configurations through production and organised supply for the campus installation programme.
Technical information supported the contractors and school team as the products moved into use.

The Result: Washrooms Designed for the School Day
The Guangya High School project demonstrates how user behaviour should shape a specification.
Rather than treating the school as a smaller commercial building, MICAWA planned around concentrated student demand, operational simplicity and long-term campus maintenance. The result was a more appropriate washroom product system for the way the campus actually functions.
